Who's out your window

It is the mid 1940s. Rain is pounding the pavement like a blacksmith hammering iron. Despite the weather, cars and people rush around the wet streets, huddling under umbrellas and store canopies. One taxi in particular merges with traffic. A man, alone, leans heavily against the cold leather seat. The slow beating of his heart and the pounding of rain is all that could be heard in that cab. His blue eyes slowly look out the window, knowing that nothing of importance awaits his gaze. And then their eyes meet . . . his and hers. Her hair is damp, her fur coat soaked. Her eyes momentarily gather flames. And then she gently smiles.
